Why it's in the guide
Founded in 1673, this is London's oldest botanic garden and one of its most magical spaces. Four acres of rare plants, medicinal herbs, and ancient trees hidden behind high walls on Royal Hospital Road. The glasshouses shelter exotic species from around the world. Come in spring for the snowdrops, summer for the roses, or any time to escape the city for an hour. The cafe serves excellent cake. A genuine Chelsea treasure that many Londoners have never visited.
